Duke engagements Mark Mitchell, center left, along with rookies Dereck Lively, center, and Dariq Whitehead, right, stand among the crowds during the Countdown to Madness at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, Caroline du Nord on October 15, 2021.
With Shaedon Sharpe moving to the 2021 class, who will be the new No.1 for 2022?
247Sports already reshuffled its roster several weeks ago, when Sharpe made it clear he would be signing up for classes in the UK this month. This site moved Sharpe to third place in the 2021 class and installed Duke Dereck Lively III signatory as the No.1 player for 2022.
Rivals.com looks like the next recruiting site to change its rankings, and two of its top analysts have questioned who should get that top spot in a new post on Monday. Both analysts went with a signer from Duke, but neither chose Lively. Rob Cassidy sided with Dariq Whitehead, while Jamie Shaw picked Kyle Filipowski, meaning that not only is Duke the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, but the Blue Devils appear to have three different capable players. to claim first rank for the 2022 class.
It’s a debate that is sure to rage in recruiting circles over the coming months.
