Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk issues final driver’s license at Bowman Field | News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The clerk of Jefferson County Circuit Court issued his final driver’s license at Bowman Field on Wednesday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will handle licensing. Residents of Kentucky will now be able to visit any regional KYTC driver’s license office in the state, regardless of where they live.

The Circuit Court clerk said the transition is a sad but happy change.

“We enjoyed serving citizens and seeing that they had the proper credentials,” Jefferson County Circuit Court clerk David Nicholson said. “It is a bittersweet moment to have to say that we have closed this chapter and allowed the transport cabinet to open a new chapter.”

KYTC has four regional offices in Jefferson County. They include locations in Hurstbourne, Southwest Louisville, West Louisville, and Bowman Field.

Drivers will be able to obtain a standard license, real ID card, personal ID card and much more at the regional offices.

If renewing in person, appointments are encouraged. To find a regional office near you and make an appointment, Click here.

The state plans to complete the transition to regional offices statewide by the end of June 2022. For a map showing the offices of circuit clerks who have made the change, Click here.
