LEXINGTON, Kentucky — After a 4-1 start to the 2022 softball season, the Kentucky Wildcats will head west to Tucson, Arizona to participate in the 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona over the weekend. end. The Wildcats will play five games, starting with two each Friday and Saturday before a final on Sunday morning.
The UK will face UC Santa Barbara twice, while facing Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and hosts Arizona each once in the tournament.
Kentucky games against LBSU, LMU and UCSB will be broadcast live on FLOsoftball with a subscription. The Wildcats game against Arizona will be broadcast live on the PAC-12 digital network online.
The Wildcats got off to a strong start to 2022 last weekend at the Northern Lights/Southern Nights Invitational in Orlando, going 4-1 with wins over Wisconsin, Michigan State, Liberty and Iowa. The United Kingdom was led offensively by lauren johnsonwho hit .500 on the weekend with eight hits including three triples, six RBIs and four runs scored.
In the circle, it was junior Miranda Stoddard leading the way for the Wildcats with a 1.66 ERA and a 2-1 record. Stoddard recorded wins over Wisconsin and Liberty, with just three earned runs in 12.2 innings of work with six strikeouts. Johnson and Stoddard were named to the All-Tournament Team on Tuesday afternoon.
