Louisville woman killed at Vibes nightclub during identified Derby party

Wife who was shot in a nightclub at a Kentucky Derby celebration party on Saturday was identified.

Kasmira Nash, 37, died of a gunshot wound at the Vibes restaurant and the Ultra Lounge, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said.

A man was also shot and injured in the incident at the club, 1346 River Road, Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said. Officers responded to the scene just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Nash was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to the University of Louisville hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Smiley said.

The Vibes restaurant and Ultra Lounge organized Friday evening, according to its Facebook page, a “Derby Weekend Kickoff” evening with DJ Drama.

“Authorities say the club was well attended at the time of the incident, but there were no other injuries,” Smiley said. “The homicide unit is investigating and believes both shootings took place inside the room.”
