Suspect in deadly Central Ky. break-in faces new charges

The man accused of shooting Jordan Morgan, 32, at the family’s Madison County mansion faces new charges, court records show.

Shannon Gilday, 23, has now been charged with strangulation and assault of a prison officer, court records show. Gilday was charged on Saturday. He has a preliminary hearing set for April 27 in his latest case.

The incident is now the third active case against Gilday. He has been charged with murder and other offenses for allegedly being the perpetrator of the fatal home invasion at former lawmaker C. Wesley Morgan’s home in Richmond. Gilday told investigators he broke into Morgan’s house because he wanted to secure the bunker Morgan had built under his house.

He was also charged with burglary in Kenton County for allegedly breaking into a Kentucky driver’s license office and stealing equipment so he could fabricate fake IDs. He reportedly told police that he planned to use the fake IDs to help him get Bitcoin.

Gilday was arrested for the home invasion on Feb. 28, according to police. He was charged in March with the Kenton County burglary after he allegedly confessed to the crime, according to court records.

Gilday has been held at the Madison County Detention Center since February 28. He is not allowed to post bail, according to court records.
