Tops Hit Badger Invitational to start the fall

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU men’s golf is set to begin its fall season at the Wisconsin-hosted Badger Invitational, starting Sunday and continuing through Tuesday.

This is the Hilltoppers’ first trip of the season and the first appearance in the Badger Invitational. The 18-team field is stacked with some of the best teams in the country, including five top-50 teams and nine top-100 teams from the 2021-22 season. The field includes No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 21 Ole Miss, No. 26 South Carolina, No. 28 Purdue and No. 30 South Florida.

The 54-hole event will be played on Wisconsin’s own University Ridge Course. WKU will play one round per day in a double start format and start each day.

WKU starts the year off with a new roster with mixed experience on the five-card. Senior Luke Fuller will lead the Tops to first place. He has the second-best scoring average of the 2021-22 season with 74.6 shots.

After Fuller, the newcomer and senior graduate Landon Carner. Carner will make his first start as a Hilltopper on Sunday at the invite. Second year Riley Grindstaff has the best scoring average of the year 2021-22 at 73.9 strokes and will play for the Tops in third place.

Junior Connery Meyer returns to the roster for the third straight year and will play four in the second year Does Stewart will make his first start in the Red and White line-up. He competed as an individual for the team in his first season.

Redshirt sophomore and newcomer Nicholas Hofman will play as an individual for WKU in Wisconsin.
