Valor FC announced on Tuesday that they have acquired CF Montreal striker Sean Rea and goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois on loan for the 2021 Canadian Premier League season.
Sirois and Rea are expected to join the club for pre-season training. The duo, who both signed their first professional contracts with the MLS squad last November, follow in the footsteps of Valor’s impressive loan signings in the 2020 CPL season, which included the current CF goalie. Montreal, James Pantemis.
Rea, 18, from Laval, has been a member of the Montreal Academy since 2014 and has made two appearances for Canada at the 2019 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Brazil.
“Sean is a great signing for us,” said Valor head coach Rob Gale. “A young Canadian international, Rea did exceptionally well with the MLS first team in Montreal. We believe that CPL will be the perfect showcase for him and his offensive and technical capabilities.
Sirois, 19, is part of the Montreal youth set up since 2015, spending time with the academy and the U23 team. The native of LaSalle, Que., Joins returning Matt Silva in the Valor goaltending team confirmed for the 2021 season.
“Jonathan is a mature individual and feels he can come in and become a leader,” Gale said. “He has a presence and is not afraid to communicate that to his teammates. We expect him to come in and fit right in with the culture we have in the locker room. “
The pair are Valor’s 17th and 18th signing for the 2021 season.
