Women’s football heads to UT Martin for its first road test – UK Athletics

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fresh off a 3-0 victory in the season opener Thursday night, Kentucky hits the road for the first time in 2022 to take on UT Martin at Skyhawk Soccer Field on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action live on the ESPN+/ESPN app.

The game will be the first between the Wildcats and Skyhawks since the teams met in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. There, Kentucky picked up the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, coming out of overtime with a 1-0 win at Lexington.

The UK will be looking to build on an encouraging performance in Troy Fabiano’s first game at the helm which saw the ‘Cats score three goals en route to a comfortable result against Ball State. Transfer junior Hadley Williams and freshman Madison Jones each scored their first career collegiate goals while senior Jordyn Rhodes also scored in the shutout victory. Ulfa Úlfarsdóttir, Hannah Richardson and Rafferty Kugler all provided assists on the night and the Wildcats defense didn’t allow a shot on goal.

For UT Martin, Sunday’s action will be the first on the 2022 slate. The Skyhawks are coming off a season in which they won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title, posting a record of 11-6-1, 6-2 (OVC).

Second-team All-OVC selections Makayla Robinson and Izzy Patterson are back for the Skyhawks, as are senior captains Maria Castaldo and Catey Hunt.
